The Elephant is a two storey fine dining restaurant with the more informal brasserie on the ground floor and the Michelin starred, The Room on the first. The Elephant was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star.
Run by head chef, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy, the restaurant overlooks the beautiful Torbay harbour. We offer a changing menu based around local and sustainable ingredients.

Diners in the Brasserie can enjoy a delicious menu of local and sustainable fish, meat and vegetables, sourced from the surrounding area, in an informal and attractive setting. Paignton crab with spaghetti, chilli and coriander and whole English lobster with skinny fries are among our most popular dishes. Our menu changes regularly to make the most of what’s in season.
The Room offers Michelin starred food and service without the formalities. A 9 course Tasting Menu which changes regularly during the summer months is offered to give you a dining experience to remember. Example dishes include, beets and curds, ham hock tortellini and halibut with parsnip, lardo and golden sultanas. Our manager will help you to find the perfect bottle of wine to complement your meal or if it’s a truly special occasion we’d recommend our food and wine matching menu.
